Biomolecules are compounds found in living cells such as water, minerals, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and nucleic acids.

The function of these compounds in the cell are as follows:

a. Water serves as a solvent.
b. Minerals serve as a regulator of the course of the reaction.
c. Carbohydrates serve as energy sources and more complex-forming compounds.

d. Fat serves as an energy reserve.
e. Protein serves as a source of energy and food reserves, enzymes as catalysts, hemoglobin as a means of transport, building cells, and serves as an antibody or protective.
f. Nucleic acid serves as a carrier of genetic cell, an energy carrier, and play a role in protein synthesis.
